The BIU center of research was recently founded as part of a national program, sponsored in part by the National Cyber Bureau in the Prime Minister’s Office. The primary aim of the center at Bar-Ilan University is to promote and carry out first class research in the fields of applied cryptography and cyber security, and to train graduate students who will be the next generation leaders in the field. The center also supports industry and government as a source of knowledge, and encourages collaboration with industry on cutting-edge research questions

The center is headed by Professors Yehuda Lindell and Benny Pinkas, and consists of faculty and students from the Computer Science, Mathematics and Computer Engineering departments.

The main focus topics of the center are (a) Applied Cryptography, Privacy and Cryptanalysis (b) cyber security of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (c) applications of Network Science to cyber security.
